Layoffs Take Effect at U. of Akron (and Prompt a Mocking Craigslist Ad)

Looming layoffs at the University of Akron became a reality this week, with staff in the college’s Multicultural Center, UA Press, and registrar’s office among those who learned their jobs were being eliminated.
The Plain Dealer reports that on Monday the college’s Board of Trustees approved plans, announced this month, to eliminate more than 200 positions. The measures are intended to plug a $60-million budget shortfall over the next three years.
