A University of Florida professor has been arrested in the United
Arab Emirates for taking photographs of buildings in the capital city of
Abu Dhabi, The Gainesville Sun reports. John Schueller, an engineering professor, was detained last week and released on bail.
“I have legal representation, and things are moving forward,” Mr. Schueller said in an email to the Sun.
The university said it knew of the professor’s detention. “We are
aware that the matter is under review, and the university has made sure
that Dr. Schueller … has assistance of counsel in Abu Dhabi,” said
