NYU Grad Students Reach Deal With School, Avoiding a Strike

Wall Street Journal
March 10th, 2015

Crisis averted.
New York University’s administration and graduate-student-employee union reached a tentative deal Monday evening, avoiding a strike, the school and union said.
“NYU is pleased to have reached an agreement with the UAW,”  said school spokesman John Beckman, referring to the United Auto Workers, the union that NYU graduates joined.
The deal paves the way for a first contract for the only graduate-student union in the country recognized by a private university, after more than a year of negotiations. The university and the union have agreed not to share the terms and details of the deal, pending ratification.
