Steven G. Salaita, whose rescinded appointment
to the faculty at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has
sparked an outcry in academe, will speak publicly about the controversy
for the first time on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Center for Constitutional Rights, a legal group that is representing him.
Mr. Salaita will visit the campus on Tuesday to speak about his
situation, along with other “organized attacks on free speech on
campuses and concerns about academic freedom and the First Amendment
raised by the incident,” the release says.
