The Kalamazoo Valley Community College Board of Trustees approved a four-year contract with its full-time faculty union at a special board meeting Tuesday.
Under the terms of the contract, which will run through May 31, 2018,
both instructional and non-instructional faculty will receive a 1.25
percent increase in the first year. During the next three years, the
contract will be opened up each year for compensation and benefits, said
Sandy Bohnet, vice president for human resources at KVCC.
(Non-instructional faculty would include librarians and counselors.)
The negotiations between the administration and KVCC Faculty
Association took place over three months, she said. The community
college is still in negotiations with its part-time faculty union, which
was formed in 2012.
"It was very professional, very productive," Bohnet said of
negotiations with the KVCC Faculty Association. "It was a good
experience for both teams."
